Pamätná izba Jána Čieteka Smreka
The memorial room of Ján Čietek Smrek was established on the occasion of the celebration of his unlived 100th birthday in 1998. The author of the script is Dr. Ladislav Jaseňák from Matica slovenská from Martin and Dr. Jozef Karlík from the Trenčín Museum. The artistic solution was designed by the Rips company from Žiar nad Hronom, and the implementer was local entrepreneur Ján Michalec. On the occasion of this anniversary, the Ján Smrek Park was also built, in which the poet's monument is located.
Matica slovenská captured his life chronologically on panels from his birth, work to the placement of his urn at the National Cemetery in Martin. The Trenčín Museum depicts his poetic and translation activities. Family members, especially his wife Blanka, provided us with personal items that the poet used.
Ján Smrek Memorial Plaque
The memorial plaque of the poet Ján Smrek is located on the building of the Municipal Office of Melčice-Lieskové. It was unveiled on the occasion of his 90th birthday. The author of the memorial plaque is the academic sculptor Igor Mosný. The memorial plaque features a quote from his poem The Poet and the Woman, which is still relevant: "One must fight, never run away from the fight. Not to be afraid of wounds that may never heal. Never to be among the unbelievers. And to love..." The poet Július Lenko gave a ceremonial speech at the unveiling of the monument. The poet's wife, Mrs. Blanka, and his sons Ivan and Mojmír also attended the celebrations. On this occasion, a literary and dramatic show entitled "Here in this city" was held in the cultural center, in which Bratislava artists performed under the direction of Juraj Sarvaš.
